Parkwatch Privacy Policy
What stays on your phone? Everything.
Last updated: 15 June 2026
Most apps ask you to trust a privacy policy. Parkwatch asks you to trust something simpler: there is nowhere for your data to go. Parkwatch has no backend, no account, and no servers of its own. It cannot leak what it never collects.
We have no backend
Parkwatch is a fully on-device app. We do not run a server that receives, processes, or stores your information. There is no database with your name, your car, your trips, or your parking history in it, because that database does not exist. Nothing about you is sent to Pera Meta, to PeraByte Labs, or to anyone else.
Your location never leaves your phone
Parkwatch uses your location to work out whether you have parked in a paid street-parking zone and to show parking areas and prices on the map. All of that is calculated on your device. Your location is never transmitted, never uploaded, and never logged on any server. We keep no trip history and no record of where you have been, anywhere off your phone.
We store no confidential information
Parkwatch has no sign-up, so it never asks for and never holds an email address, a password, a payment detail, a phone number, or any identity information. The only things the app remembers are small local settings (such as your chosen permit area and your notification preferences), and they live only inside the app on your device. Delete the app and they are gone.
What stays on your phone
- Your location, used live and then discarded
- Your parking permit area and notification settings
- Any local record of a parking session, kept only on this device
The only data that crosses the network (and it is not yours)
Two things require an internet connection, and neither sends any personal information about you:
- The map downloads public street-parking data from the Dutch national parking register (open data) and caches it locally on your device.
- Map tiles and place search are provided by Apple Maps. These are ordinary requests for public map data and are governed by Apple's privacy policy.
Tapping a parking garage may open that operator's own website or Apple Maps for directions. What you do on those external sites is covered by their privacy policies, not ours.
Notifications
Parking alerts are created and scheduled locally on your device. They are not sent through any push server run by us. We do not know when, where, or whether you receive one.
No tracking, no ads, no analytics
Parkwatch contains no advertising, no analytics, no trackers, and no third-party data collection SDKs. We do not profile you and we have nothing to sell, because we collect nothing to begin with.
Children
Parkwatch is a utility for drivers and is not directed at children. It collects no data from anyone, of any age.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date. If a future version of Parkwatch ever added a feature that sends data off your device, we would say so here, in plain language, before it shipped.
